Gov't Contract- Ottawa -Oracle Database Technical Specialist-
Our client is seeking a candidate that has experience developing and/or
modifying the database, and database migration.
The required services will include:
* Providing specialized expertise and practical assistance in use of
database management systems and the manipulation/migration of data for
information systems with a strong current background in Oracle 8i or 9i
database, Unix HP-UX and (IBM) AIX 5.x systems software;
* Performing architecture proof-of-concept testing, application
end-to-end performance testing, and application/data migration in
conjunction with our clients' resources;
* Assisting the client in the definition of data requirements and
applying investigative skills to determine if and how the Oracle database
might be used to fulfill them;
* Assisting our clients' resources with the preparation and testing of
Oracle 9i software installation procedures on IBM AIX 5.x platform;
* Identifying potential improvements to our clients' existing Oracle
databases on Unix and AIX by determining user's information requirements and
system performance and functional requirements;
* Defining and customizing data migration/conversion strategies,
specifications and routines;
* Recommending options for security procedures for the Oracle database,
including access and user account management;
* Providing impact analysis report, detailed walk-through of migration
plan with the project team and advice related to database backup and
recovery (within context of Enterprise Backup Solution), and virus
protection procedures;
* Managing and organizing electronic databases in order to ensure share
ability, coherence, availability, accuracy, completeness and integrity to
meet informatics needs;
* Transforming data requirements into new Oracle database structures
with extensive knowledge of Oracle, Unix and IBM products and
configurations;
* Providing technical direction and support in the areas of database
performance and scalability by being integrated with the Oracle Support
Centre.
* Have a valid Security Clearance at the Enhanced Reliability level.
( If you do not have The proper Security Clearance, only if you qualify,
our Agency will be happy to provide it for you).
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:
The Oracle Database Technical Specialist shall possess any of the categories
listed below:
..as a minimum:
Category # 1 )
An undergraduate degree from a recognized university in Computer Engineering
or Computer Science -and- a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of
demonstrated experience, within the last 60 months, developing and/or
modifying and/or administering Oracle databases on HP and/or AIX -and- a
minimum of twenty-four (24) months of demonstrated experience, within the
last 60 months, migrating Oracle databases on HP and/or AIX (See note
below).
Category # 2 )
A two (2) year college-level certificate in Computer Science or
equivalent -and- a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of demonstrated
experience, within the last 60 months, developing and/or modifying and/or
administering Oracle databases on HP and/or AIX -and- a minimum of
twenty-four (24) months of demonstrated experience, within the last 60
months, migrating Oracle databases on HP and/or AIX (See note below).
Category # 3)
Successful completion of an intensive IM/IT course with a minimum of six
hundred (600) hours of instruction -and- a minimum of twenty-four (24)
months of demonstrated experience, within the last 60 months, developing
and/or modifying and/or administering Oracle databases on HP and/or
AIX -and- a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of demonstrated experience,
within the last 60 months, migrating Oracle databases on HP and/or AIX (See
note below).
Category # 4 )
Forty-eight (48) months of demonstrated experience, within the last eight
(8) years, developing and/or modifying and/or administering Oracle databases
on HP and/or AIX -and- a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of demonstrated
experience, within the last 60 months, migrating Oracle databases on HP
and/or AIX (See note below).
