Brought in to reanalyze, design and rebuild a major interface with another
essential system. The system presently in production had two main problems,
Inconsistent results and poor performance. The redesign had to make the
system bulletproof and self recovering and improve performance by several
orders or magnitude. The RMS system potentially represents a revenue stream
of several 100's of million dollars a year to the client. Some of the
challenges were extensive business rules that were not documented and were
extracted from the Unix and Oracle Code already present. This first phase of
this completed with a 500 page detailed design presented to the client,
including time lines and other suggestions to assist the client in solving
their problems. This assignment required extensive communication with the
