POETS day so figured I might as well check out Sexy Land on Westall
Road. Used crossing to get on to cycle path running along the store and
cycled slowly up to the entrance. Motorist about to emerge, does the
right thing and waves me on :-)
So I turn in to the car park scanning the place for somewhere to lock my
bike. Next thing I know I'm sitting on the ground having done a class A
face plant. Basically the left side of my face came in to rather
forceful contact with the tarmac as well as my left shoulder and right
knee.
Nothing broken thank goodness, except a bit of pride and some skin.
More to the point Lycra and bike unscathed; bonus.
The cause of my rather sudden introduction to the tarmac was a dirty big
drain cover with the slats running the same way my skinny bike wheel
does. Should have been looking at the road instead of for somewhere to
park. Doh!
Face pissing blood mainly thanks to front lip cut by front tooth, I
wheel bike in to Sexy Land and calmly explained that I'd done a face
plant in their car park and could they see their way to giving me a bit
of disinfectant to clean myself up. The staff were great about it all.
After cleaning up with obligatory oohs and ahs from stingy Dettol,
asked if I could speak to the management regarding the drain in the car
park. No one was available, apparently the owner will be in tomorrow so
I'll follow up then.
Maybe I'll be feeling a little sexier by then, somehow I doubt it.
Knee's bruised, shoulder bruised and my face looks and feels like it's
been in a bar room brawl. I count myself lucky I haven't broken my
collar bone, easily could have.
All in all feeling a bit stupid. Sore and stupid. What I'm really not
looking forward to is the ribbing I'll get at work on Monday.
