Process Specialist
My client is an international, medium-sized designer and manufacturer of
plastic injection moulded products for the Big 6. The company's head office
is located in Markham, Ontario; but, due to expansion, they require a
Process Technician to bridge the gap between engineering and production at
their Waterloo plant. The company is Canadian created and owned, carries
state-of-the-art equipment, and the incumbent would be expected to reside
within the Waterloo region.
1. Functions and Responsibilities:
The Process Technician has primary responsibility for ensuring that robust
processes are in place for all production parts. Duties include, but are not
limited to the following:
· Review tool designs on new programs.
· Review transfer tooling from customers.
· Support mould trails and trouble shoot production molding issues.
· Work on special projects to improve current production efficiency.
· Mould Tests - work with engineers / customers / material suppliers
& Q.A.
· Make recommendations to improve tooling & processes.
· Establish working processes & improve them as changes are made.
· Report to production issues that are not being adequately addressed
to prevent problems in production.
· Monitor Process books; including generating master setup sheets and
keeping electronic record.
· Keep masters current & up to date; ensure there is an accurate
master for each machine the mould runs in.
· Provide training for material handlers / set-up and supervisors
regarding processing.
· Review die change sheets & track die change times.
· Track mould repair sheets & report on moulds with abnormal
maintenance costs and work with production / engineering & tool shop to
improve these situations.
· Develop IMM Robot programs.
· Work with set up to trouble shoot processes when they are unable to
solve the problems.
· Recommend & help implement procedures to improve quality and
productivity.
· Awareness of QS 9000 Policies and Procedures
· Awareness of ISO 14000 Policies and Procedures with particular
emphasis on emergency procedures.
2. Minimum Education, Skills and/or Experience Required
· Engineering Degree preferred
· Minimum 3 years related experience
· Good communication skills, written and verbal
· Strong plastics background (educational training is an asset)
· Good problem solving skills (8D, DOE, Time Study)
This is a permanent position and the salary range quoted is between $40 -
50K with an exciting benefits package.
